‘Community Christmas
Spirit’ All
classes took part in our ‘Community
Christmas Spirit’. This was an
opportunity for us to give something
back to our community by inviting them
into school to celebrate Christmas. Each
class performed a Christmas song whilst
our guests enjoyed mulled wine and mince
pies. It was lovely to see children from
Millwood and St Michael’s who joined us
for the afternoon. Well done to all the
children and a special well done to
Daliti who sang Mary’s Boy Child
beautifully! Please click on the
slideshows of the afternoon.
Ainsworth Methodist Church kindly
invited us to decorate a Christmas tree
along with other organisations from our
area decorating their own trees. Our
children and staff designed some
fantastic decorations to adorn the tree.
The tree now stands proudly in school
for us all to enjoy!
Well done everyone!
Please take a look at the slideshow of
our 'homemade' decorations and the
finished tree.
Six Year 6 Children have
been to St Michael’s C of E Primary
School to join their celebration of
Eid-ul-Adha
('festival of Sacrifice'), also known as
the Greater Eid. This is the second most
important festival in the Muslim
calendar.
The festival remembers the prophet
Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his
son when God ordered him to.

Michael's.

Harvest
Assembly
On Friday 21st October
2011 we held our Harvest Assembly. We asked for
donations of groceries, toiletries etc for the
Porch Boxes appeal. This is a local charity
which provides the following types of
assistance:
Crisis Packs: The original
boxes of food and toiletries to last about two
days to support people in temporary difficulty
or continuing poverty.
Starter Packs: Food and other materials to
support a person (for example, moving into
independent living accommodation), designed to
last for a week
Street Packs: Designed for those who do not have
access to kitchen utensils or cooking facilities
Bulk Food: To support the catering activities of
others, such as soup runs, Christmas parties,
those providing catering services to their
clients
Family Holiday Packs: Each to suffice for one
week.
Thank you to everyone for
your donations! Mr Gerrard
Charlie's Place
In September the
chair and benches were finally installed
with a path from the playground leading
to 'Charlie's Place'. The whole project
has been paid for through fund raising
by the children and the local community.
We feel it is very fitting and a special
area created in memory of one of our
much loved ex pupils Charlie Wyatt who
died 22nd December 2010.
Pupils and staff were able
to join in the recent momentous success of
Lancashire Cricket Club in winning the County
Championship when the official trophy visited
the school.
All the assembled children and parents were able
to see the coveted trophy because one of the
school’s parents, Mr A Horn, is the chief
physiotherapist and fitness coach.
Mr Gerrard explained that the trophy had not
been won by Lancashire for the past 77 years and
the children were privileged to be able to say,
‘as Lancastrians’ that they had seen the silver
gilt trophy in their school.
Let’s hope it is not as long before children in
Lancashire can see it again!
Thank you Mr Horn!

trophy with pupils and staff......
Michael Johnson and
Efetobore Sobje of Bury Football Club
visited our school, as part of Bury
Football Club's 'In the Community'
project.
Johnson and Sodje talked to the children
about life as a professional footballer
and answered questions from our
children.
They also donated
a whole team signed football and
discounted tickets for a Bury FC match.
