Ofsted
Inspection at Christ Church Ainsworth on
Thursday 2nd & Wednesday 3rd February.
Mr
Gerrard
Forever
Bury's Chairman, Dave Giffard and Junior Shakers
Director, Gill Mansley paid a visit to Christ
Church Ainsworth C of E Primary School today
to promote the Forever Bury Junior Shakers. They
were assisted by Shakers players Andy Bishop and
Lenell John-Lewis who took part in a vibrant
Question and Answer session with all the
youngsters in what was a brilliant afternoon.
Looking to engage all the
youngsters in the area with an active
involvement with Bury FC this is the third
school visited this season. Membership is rising
and it's hoped that many of the youngsters today
will join up especially as it's FREE to join.
Each junior members
receives a birthday card signed by the players,
can contribute reports, photos or stories to the
Junior Shakers website and Newsletters. They can
also join the Junior Shakers Council and play an
active part in the organisation. We hold
Christmas Parties, ground tours, meet the
players, outings and events culminating in our
Fun Day at the ground in July each year when
everyone is welcome.
As we build the junior
membership we are looking to form a Junior
Shakers Committee in each school to interact
with the School Council, Forever Bury Junior
Shakers and Bury FC.
Adult members are also
welcome to join Forever Bury as we actively
involve all the community in trying to rebuild
Bury Fc as a community club.
Forever Bury is an
Industrial and Provident Society based on the
Co-operative model which acts totally
democratically whereby each member holds one
share and has one vote. All assets including the
358,000 shares are held in trust for all our
members.
Christ Church
Ainsworth Primary School has been
awarded the British Council’s
prestigious International School Award
in recognition of its work to bring the
world into the classroom.
The International
School Award is a badge of honour for
schools that do outstanding work in
international education, such as through
links with partner schools overseas.
Fostering an international dimension in
the curriculum is at the heart of the
British Council’s work with schools, so
that young people gain the cultural
understanding and skills they need to
live and work as global citizens.
Christ Church
Ainsworth School’s international work
includes links with 4 schools: one with
a primary school in Malaga, Spain,
another with a link to a primary school
in L’Isle d’Espagnac near Angouleme,
France, a third with Liberty Preparatory
school in Masaka, Uganda, Africa and
finally with an Elementary school in
Ainsworth, Nebraska, USA. The children
regularly communicate via Skype with the
French school, write letters to the
schools in Uganda and Ainsworth,
Nebraska and keep a blog with the French
and Spanish schools. The children also
have pen friends with the children in
Spain and France and thoroughly enjoy
sending and receiving letters.
On hearing the news
that Christ Church Ainsworth had
received the Award, Mrs Janine McGadie
the International School Co-ordinator
and Year 6 teacher said: ‘We are
delighted to have received this award
which recognises all of the hard, but
thoroughly enjoyable, work we put in to
bringing the wider world into our
classrooms. The children enjoy linking
up and communicating with our partner
schools and learning about their life
and customs.
Christmas Dinner at CCA
Friday 16th Dec was our School Christmas
Dinner Day.
Christmas carols playing, crackers being
pulled and a delicious Christmas dinner
was consumed today. Packed lunches were
also brimming with Christmas treats too.
All the children wore their Christmas
Hats that they had made in class. Even
Mr Gerrard helped the lunchtime staff
with serving and clearing away the
plates etc. (To be fair, though, he does
help out most lunchtimes!)

our Christmas Dinner.
Christmas Fayre
Thanks to everyone
who supported the Christmas Fair on 26th
Nov 2011. I am sure that you will all
agree it was superbly organised by The
Friends of Christ Church and a
thoroughly enjoyable day. My particular
thanks go to the committee who worked so
hard to organise the event and the
parents, friends and staff of the school
who manned the stalls and made the whole
event possible.
I am reliably informed that we took,
including the raffle, £3395.50, a
brilliant effort, although the expenses
to put on the event have still to come
off. Even so – fantastic – and a huge
thank you to everyone.
Mr Gerrard
Christmas at Christchurch Ainsworth.
It's
that wonderful time of the year again
and here at Christchurch Ainsworth the
children and staff are busy at work.
The
rehearsals for our Christmas productions
are well under way! You are in for a
treat!
Children and staff have been busy making
Christmas displays and ' homemade' (as
Mrs Sharp says) decorations for the
Christmas tree in the hall and also for
a Christmas tree at the Ainsworth
Methodist Church which we were invited
to decorate along with other
organisations in our area who decorated
their own trees.
Please take a look at our Christmas
Display Show and our Homemade
Decorations Show. We are sure you
will agree they all look fantastic!
Remembrance Day
Children and Staff
from our school fell silent for two
minutes at 11am on 11 November to
remember all those who've fought and
died for their country.
Six Year 6 Children have
been to St Michael’s C of E Primary
School to join their celebration of
Eid-ul-Adha
('festival of Sacrifice'), also known as
the Greater Eid. This is the second most
important festival in the Muslim
calendar.
The festival remembers the prophet
Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his
son when God ordered him to.

Michael's.
Firework
Display
Black
peas, Hot Potatoes and Parkin were
consumed by the children and staff at
the Infant Children's Firework Display
on Fri 4th Nov. Mr Gerrard was the
official firework lighter and Mrs
Hardman the official firework passer.
The Children and staff thoroughly
enjoyed the food and the firework
display.
Please take a look at the slideshows of
the display.
School Safety
Week
Two Police
Officers from Greater Manchester Police visited
our school to talk to the children about
Internet Safety, PC Andy & PC Carl gave a
child-friendly and informative presentation to
our children.
Thank You to both Police Officers.
This
week in school we are all thinking about
and discussing our safety.
Year 6 pupils have made a PowerPoint
presentation 'Keeping Us Safe'
which they presented to the whole school
during assembly. This was designed and
worded by the pupils only (no staff
input) .
They
have made an informative and superb
PowerPoint presentation. Well Done!

Remember, Remember The 5th of November!
Fire Officers
Gary and Graham were in school today to talk to
the children about bonfire and firework safety.
The Firemen who are both based at Bury Fire
Station talked all about The Firework Code and
common sense at this time of year.
The children were praised highly for their
attentive behaviour and the enthusiasm they
shared asking lots and lots of questions.
May
you all have an enjoyable and SAFE 5th
November !

Gerrard
Harvest
Assembly
On Friday 21st October
2011 we held our Harvest Assembly. We asked for
donations of groceries, toiletries etc for the
Porch Boxes appeal. This is a local charity
which provides the following types of
assistance:
Crisis Packs: The original
boxes of food and toiletries to last about two
days to support people in temporary difficulty
or continuing poverty.
Starter Packs: Food and other materials to
support a person (for example, moving into
independent living accommodation), designed to
last for a week
Street Packs: Designed for those who do not have
access to kitchen utensils or cooking facilities
Bulk Food: To support the catering activities of
others, such as soup runs, Christmas parties,
those providing catering services to their
clients
Family Holiday Packs: Each to suffice for one
week.
Thank you to everyone for
your donations! Mr Gerrard
Charlie's Place
In September the
chair and benches were finally installed
with a path from the playground leading
to 'Charlie's Place'. The whole project
has been paid for through fund raising
by the children and the local community.
We feel it is very fitting and a special
area created in memory of one of our
much loved ex pupils Charlie Wyatt who
died 22nd December 2010.
Pupils and staff were able
to join in the recent momentous success of
Lancashire Cricket Club in winning the County
Championship when the official trophy visited
the school.
All the assembled children and parents were able
to see the coveted trophy because one of the
school’s parents, Mr A Horn, is the chief
physiotherapist and fitness coach.
Mr Gerrard explained that the trophy had not
been won by Lancashire for the past 77 years and
the children were privileged to be able to say,
‘as Lancastrians’ that they had seen the silver
gilt trophy in their school.
Let’s hope it is not as long before children in
Lancashire can see it again!
Thank you Mr Horn!
Please take a look at the slideshow of the
trophy with pupils and staff......
New
