Millwood
School Visit
On
Monday 7th November the children of the Our
World Club, along with Mrs Connelly & Mrs Comac
went to visit the children at Millwood School.
The deputy head at Millwood Jill Tierney, kindly
collected us from school and drove us to
Millwood on their minibus.
Once there we split into 2 groups. The first
group with Jill and Mrs Comac had a tour of the
school, meeting children and staff. The 2nd
group and Mrs Connelly remained in a class of
reception and Year 1 children. This group took
part in a music session, where we each paired up
with a Millwood child.
The group thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity
and were even taught to sign a few words to the
children.
Our groups then swapped over and whilst Mrs
Connelly and her group toured the school, Mrs
Comac's group joined in with a Design Technology
session. Here the Our World Club children helped
the Millwood children to 'build a new school'.
The Our World Club learnt all about different
techniques to help the Millwood children
communicate , such as makaton or 'pecs'.
Throughout our visit we were made to feel very
welcome, so much so we didn't want to return to
school.
Some of the Our World Club children were so
inspired that they said they would like to be
teaching at Millwood when they are older!
We look forward to visiting the children of
Millwood very soon in their new school and in
the meantime hope to raise as much money as
possible for them.

Millwood
School and the Smartie Challenge
This is a new
school being built in Radcliffe. The requires a
lot of new equipment which costs a lot of money.
We are taking the children from Our World Club
on a visit to Millwood on the 7th November 2011
so they can meet the children and staff. This
will be the of many visits.
Our
fundraiser to help Millwood School is called '
SMARTIE CHALLENGE'. We are asking the children
of our school to bring in a tube of smarties,
empty the tube of smarties into a large jar in
school, take back the empty tube and fill with
20p's. Once full please bring back into school
to be counted. The class with the most money
raised will receive a treat!
The smarties collected in the jar will be able
to be won with a ' Guess The Weight Of The
Smarties Raffle'.
We hope you agree with us,' Millwood School' is
a very local and worthwhile cause to help!
Please click
below to take a look at the shows the children
from Our World Club made for you explaining
about Millwood School and the Smartie Challenge:
If you would
like to suggest a charity for us to support or
would like any other details please contact Mrs
M Connelly or Mrs C Comac at the school. We look
forward to hearing from you.
